Biography
Body Mind Wellness supports teen girls in developing healthy coping skills, self esteem. positive relationships and body image as they navigate the pressures from peers, family, social media and pop culture. My services blend together various feminine-focused wellness and stress-management techniques from yoga, and other somatic-based practices, a blend of Eastern and Western philosophy and psychology, meditation and mindfulness, and practices to love, honor and embrace the feminine.
Lara began her studies in Eastern healing practices specifically yoga, mindfulness and meditation in 1999. In 2001 she graduated from Columbia University where she received dual Masters degrees in Psychological Counseling. She is a certified yoga and mindfulness/ meditation instructor and has been studying mind body practices for 16 years.
In addition to her studies in mind-body healing, Lara has been on a path embracing and exploring her identity as a woman. She decided to specialize in working with females after years of seeing girls and women try to live up to American standards of beauty, saddened by their competitive nature and feeling their inner beauty wasn't valued. She now supports females in finding their own "inner beauty" and embrace ALL of themselves exactly as they are. Lara is committed to inspiring girls and women to love one another as sisters, reclaim their femininity, rediscover their innate beauty, find their unique voice and develop a positive body image.
Lara has a vision of world peace and feels one must find it within first. She takes workshops and classes all over the country in an effort to connect with others and continue to evolve personally and professionally.
